How big does a deer have to be before you hang his head on your wall ? Do you go by Boone and Crockett or just size. Personally for a nice deer my rule of thumb is I want the main beems to reach past his ears.

Our group rule is minimum of 8 points and beyond the ears, unless it is a management deer with a bad rack.

For mounting I have set a 150" minimum, or a deer with a unusual rack.

It depends on which area I am hunting at the time.
