Well it happened. After almost 5 years of hunting on 80+ acres south of the MN river, we lost our spot. Cut my teeth on turkey hunting here, slug hunting for deer, and easy access to archery hunting during the work week...the owners have sold.
We were informed on wednesday that we could no longer hunt it, and any stands left behind would be subject to seizure. So we raced out there and got all the stands down, less than two weeks after the season started.
Now we knew the land had been sold, but were told by the caretaker that we could still hunt it. It wasn't until the caretaker went to kick some "trespassers" off the land that we found out the real case.
So I am off to search for other places to hunt in the metro area, maybe try to get in on some of the lotteries.
This could have been prevented, we could have researched more and found out earlier we wouldn't be allowed to hunt...true.
But there is a bigger issue. If the new owners didn't have the money, and the sellers had more we could have avoided this whole issue. In the nicest way I know to say it; "could you please tell your friends to stop going to the casino?"
